Charlotte Mechanical has kicked off its ninth annual Charlotte Coat Drive, a three-month campaign to collect coats for The Salvation Army of Greater Charlotte. From Sept. 1 through Nov. 15, Charlotteans may drop off coats at donation barrels spread across the city or gift a monetary donation online. The campaign concludes with one last chance to donate at the Warmup Finale party on Nov. 15 at Dilworth Neighborhood Grille.

“Charlotte Mechanical’s Coat Drive is a great opportunity to see what’s best about our city on display – local businesses and individuals all across our community getting involved to make sure every man, woman and child stays warm this winter,” said Brent Rinehart, Director of Communications, The Salvation Army of Greater Charlotte. “They are truly the army behind the Army.”

Since 2010, Charlotte Mechanical has helped more than its customers stay warm during the cold season months. What started nine years ago as a small donation of coats from owners Steve and Nancy McLaughlin and their friends, has now become the company’s largest community event. Through the love, generosity and help of special partnerships, the Coat Drive continues to grow each year.

The goal is to collect 5,000 coats for The Salvation Army of Greater Charlotte this year. All coats collected will be distributed to their men, women and children’s shelters and the Boys and Girls Clubs. Charlotte Mechanical funds everything 100% with zero cost to The Salvation Army or any barrel partner.
