Autumn is my favorite time of the year. I love seeing pumpkin patches and Halloween decorations as I drive around Charlotte. Plus, the cooler weather means I can wear a different scarf every day of the week (am I right, ladies?).
Another great thing about autumn are the festivals and events that take place every weekend in North Carolina. Check out some of my favorite fall weekend destinations below!
Renaissance Festival – Saturdays & Sundays from Oct. 1 – Nov. 20th
Travel back in time this fall and watch history come alive through entertainment, arts & crafts, games, rides, jousting knights and feasting at the Carolina Renaissance Festival.
NC State Fair – October 13 – 23, 2016 in Raleigh, NC.
You know it’s fall when the State Fair opens. The fair has something for everyone in the family to enjoy. Whether it’s exciting rides, delicious food (fried Oreos, anyone?), or unbelievable Grandstand shows, we know you’ll have a marvelous time.
Barbecue Festival – Lexington, NC – October 22, 2016
If you’re a true North Carolinian, you’ll love the Barbecue Festival in Lexington. Enjoy music, rides, contests and more as you dig into some of the best BBQ our state has to offer.
Boone Heritage Festival – Boone, NC – October 9, 2016
Celebrate Appalachian heritage with 18th-century living history demonstrations, craft vendors, music jam sessions, children’s activities, live music and storytelling. This free event is held outdoors at the Hickory Ridge Living History Museum.
Carolina BalloonFest – Statesville, NC – October 21 – 23, 2016
This weekend long festival will feature 50 beautiful hot air balloons and festival goers can take flight in the early morning or late afternoon. On Saturday night, there is a balloon glow. If air born activities aren’t for you, there is wine sampling, craft beer and food, entertainment and activities for the children.
