Tipping Our Hats to Moms: The True Cooling & Heating Experts

Family is important to us at Charlotte Mechanical, so we hold up Mother’s Day as a special day.

We tip our hats to the mothers, grandmothers, aunts, and women who serve as moms. We think these wonderful women are the true cooling and heating experts - they keep their cool with a lot on their plate and warm our hearts unconditionally.

To celebrate, we are spotlighting some of our very own. We asked some of the mothers in our office to share a bit about their role as “mom.” We hope you enjoy learning about these amazing moms and their children.

Happy Mother's Day!

Nancy McLaughlin, Managing Member

Children: Stephen, Tyler and Sara (They are all adults now with their own families.)

Q: What is a favorite story of you and your children?

NM: When the kids were little and we were living in our first house, we planted a garden with vegetables and flowers. One day we were outside admiring how beautiful and tall the flowers had grown.

We were watching a butterfly that had landed on a flower when we realized that a spider had taken hold of the butterfly. Seeing that I was upset about this, Tyler (maybe 7 at the time) said to me, “It’s okay, Mom.  It’s all in the circle of life.”

Sometimes it seems they teach me as much as I’ve taught them.

Q: What types of activities are special for you and your children to do together?

NM: It is very rewarding to see the caring, productive adults they have become. We still enjoy taking family vacations and getting together for special occasions. As they make their own traditions, we share in seeing them grow.

Q: What is the best part of being a mom?

BH: There are so many wonderful moments being mom! Some of my absolute favorites are when we are able to slow down after a long week and free-play outside. Watching my boys in their element and their imaginations soar! They usually start with pretending they are superheroes, the floor is lava, hide and seek, running to see who is fastest, and it ends with the sweetest bunny kisses, great big bear hugs, and endless I lub yous! They always present me with the most beautiful flowers picked from our backyard because they say I’m the best mommy in the world. I always think to myself -- soak up this moment because these are the best times.

Sharon Shipp, Human Resources Manager

Child: Elizabeth, 22

Q: What types of activities are special for you and your child to do together?

SS: Elizabeth and I both love to craft and decorate. We can spend hours shopping in Hobby Lobby, Home Goods, Antique Malls, etc. We have a great time planning out our crafts and have been known to, and get caught by store employees, dancing in the aisles and singing out loud to the music.  We have both been blessed with the ability to have fun together wherever we are and are not afraid to be our normal silly selves. I wouldn’t trade these moments together for all of the money in the world.  She makes my heart smile – unconditional love at its best.

Q: What is the best part of being a mom?

CB: I enjoy being able to see my child grow up and become her own person. I like seeing her learn and figure things out, while also giving her some guidance from my experiences and those I’ve learned from my parents.
