Charlotte Mechanical's President Steve McLaughlin had the help of his grandchildren in picking out toy donations!

If you were in our office at the end of November, you couldn’t have missed the overflow of toys under our Christmas tree. From Barbies to light sabers to endless piles of Legos, Charlotte Mechanical began to look like Santa's staging ground for Christmas. These weren’t gifts for ourselves— these were donations collected by our team, our customers, and our local community for Toys for Tots.

At Charlotte Mechanical, giving back has always been a cornerstone of who we are. For over 12 years we hosted the 704 Coat Drive, providing thousands of coats to those in need across the Charlotte area. This year, when we learned that Toys for Tots was facing a critical shortage of donations, we knew we had to do our part to help bring a little holiday joy to children and families in our local area who needed it the most.

With only two weeks to collect donations, time was tight— but our community didn’t hesitate. We were blown away by the outpouring of toys and support, and thanks to the incredible generosity of our community, Charlotte Mechanical collected more than 500 toys!

We are sincerely grateful to everyone who donated and helped make this effort possible, and especially to WSOC for advocating for Toys for Tots and for featuring our drive on their evening broadcast. Click here to watch WSOC’s coverage, including a special mention of Charlotte Mechanical.

A heartfelt thank you also goes out to everyone at Toys for Tots for their incredible work, and to our community for helping us make the holidays brighter for so many children. As 2026 draws closer, we look forward to continuing to give back where it matters most— right here at home in the Carolinas.
